LOS ANGELES (AP) A 13-year-old girl in suburban Los Angeles is in the process of becoming the youngest person to graduate from high school in the U.S. since the 1970s, becoming the first student to do so at a public high school.
Her mom, Toni Pizzi, says her daughter, who goes by Toni, was able to graduate because of her perseverance.
The girl also has her grades published on the school district website.
“She has really driven herself to get there and be where she is today,” Pizzis said.
Toni Pizza, 13, is the youngest student to graduate as a schoolteacher.
(Los Angeles Unified School District) Toni has also been awarded $2,400 in scholarships and other financial support from the Los Angeles Unified school district.
Tori has already been the youngest to graduate in the history of the district, with her graduating in June 2018.
She also received her high school diploma on Friday.
Tonia Pizzii says her 10-year old daughter, Tania, has had a lot of support from her family and teachers, and that she has a lot more work to do to become the youngest ever person to become a high school teacher.
She says she has had to juggle her career as a teacher with her family life, which has been a lot tougher than expected.
Tania Pizzini says she is happy to have a diploma.
“I’ve been told that my daughter is a real girl, a real fighter, she’s a real lady,” Pizza said.
