When former first lady Michelle Obama first ran for the White House, she promised that her daughter would have a career.
Now that she’s running for president, she’s also talking about making sure her daughter’s career is the most fulfilling.
“I have to tell you, when she’s out of school, it’s really hard for her,” Obama said at a forum at the National Press Club on Monday.
“But that doesn’t mean I don’t think that she has a chance to have a really fulfilling career.
And that’s what I’m really focused on.”
The first lady was also quick to highlight the fact that she loves to work with her daughter.
“We have a wonderful, wonderful, loving relationship,” Obama told reporters.
“She’s a tremendous asset to this country.
She’s a terrific mother, and I’m sure that’s one of the reasons that her career is so great.”
But while she’s making sure that her daughters career is a good one, she also wants to make sure that it’s in line with her own.
As the daughter of a black woman, she wants to be the first female president, but she’s not going to sit around and wait for a woman to step in.
“My first priority is to ensure that her life is a life of full employment and a life that she can do her best for and have a lot of fun doing it,” she said.
She’s right about that, of course.
There’s a lot to love about Michelle Obama, but for all of the times she’s been asked about her own life, she always manages to stick to one thing.
“What matters to me most is the future,” she told a reporter at the press conference.
“That’s what really matters to the future of the United States of America.
It’s the same for my daughter.
What matters to my daughter is making sure she has opportunities to make a positive impact in this country.”
